‘War Room’ Takes Top Spot on Home Video Sales Chart
The Christian family drama “War Room,” distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, scored big in the post-Christmas sales period, topping the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert Sales Chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray unit sales, the week ended Jan. 3.
“War Room” had debuted a week earlier at No. 2 behind the strength of its faith-based audience and a healthy $67.8 million domestic box office (against a budget of $3 million).
Another Sony Pictures release, newcomer “The Perfect Guy,” introduced itself at No. 2 on the overall chart, selling 81% as many copies as “War Room.”
Universal Pictures’ “Minions,” which had been the top title the previous three weeks, dropped to No. 3 overall, followed at No. 4 by the home video debut of “Hitman: Agent 47,” an actioner from 20th Century Fox.
