Golden Globes: Kate Winslet Wins First Award of the Night

Even Kate Winslet was shocked that she managed to beat out the likes of Alicia Vikander and Helen Mirren to score a Best Supporting Actress statue at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.
“Is this really happening!,” Winslet, honored for her work as Apple founder Steve Jobs’ assistant in “Steve Jobs,” exclaimed.
“What an incredible year for women in film,” the actress added. “I feel prouder than ever this year to be included.”
The Golden Globes are seen as looser and sassier than the more stately Oscars and this year’s edition wasted no time taking the shiv to top talent. It took less than a minute for Ricky Gervais to poke fun at Sean Penn’s interview with Mexican drug lord  Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman at this year’s telecast.
